The governament of president Chavez has started in the year 2003 a number of iniciatives to fight poverty and unemployment in the venezuelan society. Several project have been started to support the poorer part of the ppopulation called "missions": 1) mission "Robinson" and "Rivas" have the goal to fight illiteracy and improve the level of education 2) full-time school for children has the goal to provide apart from education 75% of the daily ration of food. 3) mission "Vuelvan Caras" has the goal to teach a new profession to unemployed people. 4) mission "Barrio Adentro" has the goal to bring medical care to every neighborough. 5) the microcredit project has the goal to help women to start small scale business. 6) 7) kitchen-garden has the goal to produce fruits and vegetable. 8) mission "Mercal" has the aim to sell first necessity food at subsidy prices.
